Two special offers for our Jewish Community
from the Greater Cincinnati Energy Alliance

The Greater Cincinnati Energy Alliance is a non-profit organization founded in 2009 with a mission to develop and deliver energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions that provide a sustainable return on investment to stakeholders. The Energy Alliance has partnered with Shomrei Olam to provide its members with two special offers.

Special Offer 1:
Home Energy Assessment at a Discounted Price

The Energy Alliance is offering a special price of $199 for members of the Jewish Community who sign up for a home energy assessment*. This service normally costs from $400 to $500.

A home energy assessment is an inspection of the home that will identify opportunities to increase energy efficiency and improve comfort. The assessment uses a whole-house approach that views the house as a system with interdependent parts.

The assessment includes:
  • A thorough inspection of insulation in attic, crawlspace, basement, and other locations where energy loss occurs.
  • An inspection of heating, cooling, water heating, lighting, and appliances to identify opportunities for savings.
  • A blower door test to depressurize the house and identify the location of air leaks.
  • An infrared camera to search for hot and cold spots inside walls, around windows and below baseboards (weather permitting).
  • A safety test of combustion equipment such as furnaces and water heaters that includes carbon monoxide levels and drafting.

To sign up:
Step 2: Complete the form, including contact information
Step 3: Select “Home Energy Assessment” from the “Interested In” box and write “Shomrei Olam” in the “How may we help you?” box

The Energy Alliance will contact those who sign up to schedule a time for a home energy assessment.

Special Offer 2:
Solar Panels Discount Through Group Purchase

Members of the Jewish Community can sign-up to receive a free solar assessment of their home or business through the Energy Alliance’s Solarize Cincy program. Their team will complete an analysis of the home or business using online tools to determine if it is a good fit for solar. Owners  will receive a report that details the estimated costs and benefits of installing solar on the building. If after reviewing the report the owner determines that they would like to learn more about solar, then Solarize Cincy will connect them with a solar installer that can prepare a personalized proposal for the home or business.

Solarize Cincy can help reduce the costs associated with installing solar through its group purchasing program. If the Jewish Community, through Shomrei Olam, is able to bring together a group of 20 people who are considering solar and want to receive a personalized quote for their home, then Solarize Cincy will work with local solar installers to obtain a discounted group purchasing price for the group.

Once a solar installer is selected, they will meet with the owner to develop a personalized quote for the home or business. The owner is under no obligation to sign a contract or proceed with a solar installation.

To learn more:
Step 1: Sign-up for a free solar assessment at
Step 2: Review the solar assessment and determine if solar is the  right choice
Step 3: Email Solarize Cincy or call 513-621-4232 ext. 128 if interested in receiving a personalized proposal through the Jewish Community (or Shomrei-Olam) group purchasing opportunity

Available incentives:
  • Residents of the City of Cincinnati can receive up to $2,000 off the cost of their solar installation.
  • The City of Montgomery will waive all permit fees up to a maximum of $1,000 on solar installations.
  • The federal residential renewable energy tax credit equal to 30% of the cost of a solar system is available for systems placed in service by December 31, 2019.
  • For each megawatt hour (MWh) of electricity that a system produces one is able to sell the renewable energy attribute of the energy on the market as a Solar Renewable Energy Credit (SREC).
